I recommend this edition because it includes chapters on epigenetics which was missing from previous books on the subject. You can view DeGrasse discussing epigenetics on Nova. This book is straightforward and never sensationalist. It plods through data and description reliably. Though the varnish applied to Mendel's legacy is standard in all texts, there is a debate taking place as to the actual place he holds in the pantheon of genetic discovery. Not bad at all as far as science textbooks go (though certainly biology texts are in general much more readable than say, chemistry and physics texts) and as a introduction to Genetics. Unfortunately not very up-to-date regarding molecular techniques.

Elaborately written, step by step description of how genetics view the biology. Though some information is out-dated and needs revision, its worth reading if you are bio-phile =P
